The Union Civil Service Board (UCSB), with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is holding an event to launch the Civil Service Reform (CSR) Strategic Action Plan for Myanmar, and the UNDP Global Study on Intrinsic Motivation in Developing Countries at a Knowledge Forum on Public Service Motivation. The event will take place from 10-12 July 2017 in Nay Pyi Taw at the Myanmar International Convention Centre (MICC II).

The event will open with a keynote address by H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, as well as remarks from H.E. Dr. Win Thein, Chairman, Union Civil Service Board (UCSB), and Mr. Peter Batchelor, Country Director of UNDP. After the launch of the Civil Service Reform Action Plan, experts and attendees will have an opportunity to engage in discussions on the key proposed initiatives.

The Civil Service Reform Strategic Action Plan aims to ensure an ethical, merit-based, inclusive and responsive civil service, promoting public participation and strengthening the trust of the people. As enhancing civil service motivation will underpin the success of the civil service in supporting Myanmar’s triple transition and achieving the goals of the Strategic Action Plan, Myanmar is hosting a knowledge forum on the topic along with the launch of a UNDP global study.

A broad range of government and non-government stakeholders, including Members of Parliaments and staff, Union Ministries and Governmental Institutions, Civil Society Organizations, ASEAN member state representatives, and international experts, will join the three-day event.
