About The Hackathon 2018

Ooredoo Myanmar and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will host its first hackathon on 8-9 December, 2018 at Ooredoo’s Yangon and Mandalay offices.

The objective of “The Hackathon 2018” is to provide a platform for Myanmar’s youth to showcase innovative ideas to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Myanmar through digital innovation.

To participate in “The Hackathon 2018”, youth are encouraged to register online.

The deadline to register is December 05, 2018.

There should be at least three team members in each group who understand business administration and information technology. The theme of this hackathon is “Empowering women and youth in agriculture and food systems”.

A committee will shortlist successful teams to participate at the hackathon at Ooredoo Head Office (Tower 1, Myanmar Centre, Bahan Township, Yangon) and Ooredoo’s Mandalay Office (No. 19/81, 35th Street, Between 54th and 55th Street, Mahar Aung Myay Township, Mandalay). Contestants from Mandalay will virtually pitch their ideas via live stream to the judging panel in Yangon.

The top winning teams will participate in a six-day entrepreneurship training workshop facilitated by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and UNDP. The workshop is designed to strengthen competencies for becoming successful entrepreneurs including, business simulation activities.

Ooredoo Myanmar will also award special prizes to the winning teams. In addition, the winning teams will have access to the services (supporting mentoring and expert advice) and facilities provided by IMPACT HUB Yangon -a thriving co-working space for entrepreneurs, creators and innovators located in Yangon to help the teams develop, incubate, and pilot their ideas.
