In order to support the reform process and provide impetus to the movement towards good local governance and people centered service delivery, UNDP, in partnership with the Government of Myanmar (in particular the Ministry of Home Affairs) and UNCDF, brought together government and civil society representatives, media, academics as well as development partners, in a two-day national workshop held in Nay Pyi Taw on 17th and 18th of August 2013.

With over 200 hundred participants, the workshop was intended to facilitate an open and constructive dialogue on the reform process, and learn from experiences of other countries which have made progress towards decentralization and local governance reform.
